School Rules
Be Responsible
Be Respectful Be Safe All of our school expectations are encompassed by these three simple rules. We expect students to exhibit these expectations in all settings at school. Positive Behavior When students show these expectations throughout the day, they have the opportunity to earn Mustang dollars from teachers and staff around the school. Every Friday students get to take a trip to our 'Mustang Mall' and shop for prizes which they can purchase with the Mustang dollars they have earned throughout the week. Students are allowed to spend their money every week or to save up their money for some of the big prizes. Positive Behavior in the ClassroomI love to recognize students for the positive choices that they make in class. Here are some of the ways they may be recognized in class.
Class Dojo Each student has their own Dojo Monster in our classroom. Throughout the day I keep track of positive behaviors in our classroom and add points to each student's monsters when they make positive choices. Students can earn points for things like: participating, helping others, staying on task, working quietly, etc... Students can also lose Dojo points when they do not meet our school and classroom expectations. The best thing about Class Dojo is that parents can view their child's progress and communicate with me through the program. All you have to do is download the free Class Dojo app! I'll send home more information with your child so they can change their monsters at the beginning of the year. Brag Tags Students earn brag tags for following specific expectations, exhibiting great character, excellent work, and much more throughout the year. Brag Tags are kept on a necklace that students get to wear each Friday to show of their success to the school. The rest of the week we hang our brag tags in the classroom so they're on display for all to see. Students earn tags for behavior as well as academics. Smarty Beads When students participate actively in class and are giving lots of 'smart' feedback they may receive a Smarty Bead necklace to wear the rest of the day. Students love to see how many beads they can accumulate throughout the day! Zero Marks Prizes When students go a whole day or week with zero marks they may receive a reward. On Mondays I present zero marks students from the week before with a certificate. Some days throughout the week children with zero marks for the day may earn a reward (These occurrences are random) |
Classroom Rules
In our classroom we have the same three expectations for students to be respectful, responsible, and safe in all that they do.
In addition to those three rules I have a couple mottos that I expect students to embody in my room. 1. Try your best 2. Use kind words 3. Be a problem solver During the first few weeks of school students brainstorm ways that they can be respectful, responsible, and safe in our classroom. Here are some of their ideas.... Photos coming soon! Classroom Consequences
When students do not follow classroom expectations they earn a mark on our class mark chart. The mark chart is meant as a learning tool for students. I want them to understand why the choice that they made was wrong and what they can do to fix it the next time. Students need to understand that it is ok to make mistakes, but it is important to learn from our mistakes!
These are our consequences for when students earn marks: 1 mark= Warning 2 marks= One on one talk with the teacher about the behavior 3 marks= Trip to the Thinking Spot 4 marks= Timeout in another class 5 marks= Lunch detention (lose recess) 6 marks= Sent to the office with an ODR (Office Discipline Referral) Students also lose minutes of 'Pickle Time' at the end of the day for each mark. |
